Kallie's Whistlestop Tour of the Caribbean

pvanisacker5

In December, our Sales Manager Kallie was in the Caribbean visiting some of our hotel partners. Here are some of her highlights…

First Stop - Jade Mountain

Nestled in the jungle this iconic hotel is as romantic as I’d imagined, secluded and peaceful. After a slightly delayed flight, I loved arriving in the dark and waking up to the view over the pitons from the infinity pool in my sanctuary. Seahorse shaped water pistols are provided to ward off any unwelcome visitors!

Cap Maison

Just a short drive from Rodney Bay, Cap Maison is positioned on the clifftop, offering laid back luxury with warmth of service that makes you feel at home right away. The Naked Fisherman restaurant and beach bar in Smugglers cove is the perfect spot for lunch – it’s worth the short walk down and I’d recommend the sweetcorn ‘ribs’! For sunset views of the Caribbean Sea, pick the The Cliff at Cap to dine. Oceanview Suites with Pool and Roof terrace provide the greatest pool privacy.

Calabash

The little cluster of rooms at this beautiful property are in a crescent shape with terraces and balconies looking out over the calm bay. The décor is chic, the staff charming and the food exquisite. The grounds of this boutique hotel are lush and green, with sun loungers on the beach naturally shaded by trees. There’s a new jetty with dining platform! Explore the rainforest, waterfalls and cacao farms around the island in this tropical paradise.

Curtain Bluff

This the classic Caribbean all-inclusive property, family friendly and beloved for decades with repeat guests, its recently refurbished rooms all overlook the beach. It would be hard to get bored with the amount of activities on offer, including  a great kid’s club, watersports with a PADI dive centre, 2 snorkelling trips a day and 4 championship tennis courts. My favourite place to catch the sunset is by the adults only pool!

And Finally – Gorgeous Guana

Both wilder and cosier than I had imagined, this barely inhabited island has a very relaxed vibe. Next to the calm Caribbean Sea, there’s half a mile of powder white sand with a beach bar, water sports and sun loungers, whilst to the other side of the island you’ll find the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. There are trails to explore through the forests down to secluded coves and post hike coconut water fresh from the orchard. Guana is home to some giant tortoises, donkeys, a flock of flamingos and lots of rock.
